I just wanted to thank everyone who showed me great love and hospitality as I was in Utah. It was wonderful to see everyone. It was great to see how much people have changed both in physical stature as well as personality and was both eye opening and surprising to see many of those changes (all the kids are huge!). Thanks to everyone that offered cars, time, homes, cash, a place to sleep, and rides to and from the airport. I wish I would have had more time to talk to everyone but just seeing all of you was wonderful!
For those that don't know I have not been home for over two years. I had the opportunity to visit because I was granted an interview for residency at the Salt Lake City VA Hospital. I think the interview went well but I have no idea what the outcome will be. The residencies for optometry are done via a computer system. The interviewers and the interviewees rate their top picks and the computer attempts to make matches. I don't think it is the best system but it's what I have to work with. The match is in March and I'm hopeful that the process will go well (whatever that means). Whatever happens I know it will be for the best. I don't feel worried or concerned about the outcome because I know I have great support no matter what happens. I keep having people tell me that it would be great to have us back in Utah. I feel the same way and I usually respond by saying," help me find a great job near by and I will be back."
Anyway, it was great to see you all. I love and miss you. Thanks again for everything. I hope it won't be two more years before I see you all again.
